HAPPY FRIDAY! Hope you have a wonderful and SUNNY weekend! ☀️

Post from City of Calgary – Your Local Government

The weather is looking pretty nice this weekend, and many of you may be starting to garden. Knowing when and how to water outdoors can keep yards beautiful and your utility costs down. Save water, money and time by adopting a few simple water-saving tips.

Skip watering if it’s raining or forecasted to rain. The best time to water is early in the morning (before 10 a.m.)
Use a rain barrel to capture water and use on your trees, shrubs and flower beds.
Use the right water tool for the job: a soaker hose, drip irrigation, and water can will direct water to the plant roots, where it’s needed.
Reduce watering and mowing by keeping your lawn at least 3 inches high. Tall grass shades the soil and will require less watering.

"June 1-7 is Seniors' Week here in Calgary, and the theme for this year is Resilience. The City is asking all citizens to come together and celebrate the resilience of the older adults in our community. All events to celebrate this week are being held virtually, so that people can maintain safe, physical distancing."

It's Neighbour Day in Spruce Cliff this Saturday June 20th, hosted by the Spruce Cliff Collaborative :)

    Hi Everyone,

Neighbour day is a yearly celebration of Calgary's strong spirit. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever that we connect with our neighbours.

We encourage you to participate on June 20th - July 1st in three ways:

    • Neighbourhood Bingo
    • Neighbour Day Colouring Sheets and put them in your window
    • Decorate your windows, balcony, front lawn, sidewalk in red and white

Neighbour Day Packages - If you would like some of these items, we will be handing out a few packages on Friday June 19th between 1pm-2:30pm

If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Angela at the centre, 403-246-0390 or angela@bowcliffseniors.org
